What miniPCI cards to choose for 14-15km links

Wed Oct 01, 2008 9:07 pm

I have to make two links, from A to B 14km and from B to C 15km, all line of sight. I plan to put RB 433AH on all three points, but I am not sure about miniPCI cards which shell I put. All antennas will be parabolic 32dB:

I am considering:

1. Wistron Neweb CM9 (33€ + VAT)
2. Mikrotik R52H 350mW (54€ + VAT)
3. Ubiquiti SR5 (seems not possible to get here anymore, just XR5 as substitution, but way to expensive)

I basically have experience with Wistron Neweb CM9, Ubiquiti SR5, Ubiquiti XR5 and Compex WLM54AGP23, but I have no experience with Mikrotik R52H. Do you think it would perform better than Wistron Neweb CM9 in this configuration? Is it fail proof as CM-9? I have bad experience with Compex cards, although as AP's 2.4GHz.

IMHO the R52H will be good choise.
R52H is not so expencive as SR5 or XR5 but for this links I think it will be good chosie R52H
I have a lot of this carts in my network and i haven't got any problems with it.
I set link for 12km with R52H and panel 23dBi antennas and it work properly.

regards

I suggest modeling the links in http://www.cplus.org/rmw/english1.html, so that you will know exactly what will work and what won't.

@nickb
I did that and all mentioned cards can do the job, but I am not sure if R52H is reliable as CM9.

Try with R52 or CM9 is cheap and I thing for 15km have sufficient power.
I have 25km link with some antenna but one side R52 other side SR5.

I use R52H on link distance 25km, and signal level is -62, with two 28dB ant. modulation 54/54

max throughput 75mbits half duplex routing mode.

pozdrav...

I decided to give R52H a try. Thank you all for suggestions.
