Mikrotik WISPs: Where?

Mon Oct 20, 2008 5:28 pm

Hi!

In Mikrotik Wikipedia page is told that Routerboards are "widely used by wireless Internet service providers (WISPs) in the Czech Republic".

I'm doing a sustained work about Mikrotik/Routerboard utilization viability and I need references that sustain that RouterOS/Routerboards are used by professional and amateur WISPs. Can anyone please give me the desired information?

Regards,

Rodrigo S.

Sorry, for every country.

Every serious information I may refer in my paper. It's preferable from a professional WISP than from an local amateur WISP.

In the USA, BAMnet Corporation has outdoor networks covering several towns in both New Jersey and Florida using MikroTik hardware
exclusively.

I hope that helps.

Post #4, middle of the second paragraph.

I know it isn't a reference to a specific 'professional WISP', but acknowleges a major presence...

My understanding is that MT has a very large customer population in Europe. Have you asked them for potential reference customers?

Serving the rural areas around Demopolis, Alabama, and growing.

I don't know how many square miles we cover yet. I haven't done a thorough site survey. Three more AP's in the works before spring.

Thanks ghmorris. That's the ideia I have (many WISP in Europe, mostly in the East), but I don't have a single reference :|

I´m a mikrotik distributor in my country (Argentina)

In my country you can find up to 500 WISPs with Mikrotik technology....

For example in a small city with 30k people, you can find 3 WISPs with Mikrotik...

You can find same examples in Brazil, Chile, Uruguay...

Hi Justin,

Yes that was an excellent presentation on your use of Mikrotik and your network in general, very informative, as was the NOG one.

I will be at the next Singapore or Bali MUM, whichever comes first. Will you be doing another presentation?

Hello.

I know there are some professional WISP, and many semi-professional, and amateur based WISP's in Denmark use MT gear, mostly for infrastructure.

We are two wisp's working together and have 2000+ costumers in our area.

Feira de Santana, BA, Brazil. We use MikroTik with RouterBOARDs in every ERB. Only our point-to-point solutions still using old Terabeams, but we are going to replace it with RBs soon. A little bit more than 500 customers in our network.
