HELP!! New in wireless setup

Wed Feb 04, 2009 2:54 pm

Hello forum

I'm new in the wireless network. I've RB1000 which is running fine. In my existing network, Client is connecting through PPPoE. Now i want to deploy the client to wireless. As i'm new in this field(wireless) i need help about how can i easily deploy ? I want to use 5GHz freq, So what kind of product do i need for setup a wireless network? I've some plan also, I thought about a RB/411AH board with R52H mini pci installed on the roof top . As all the client is now going through RB1000, So RB/411AH should work as an AP only for client and they both(MK RB) connected through bridging. Is that ok ? Now i'm serving in a residential area about 5Squre KM and roof height is same. What kind of antenna do i need for point to multipoint connectivity and how much antenna gain (dBi) do i need to complete the network? I mean which omni antenna can perform best for R52H(~350mW) power output. I'm trying to find best solution for me , Please help me setup the wireless network.

Regards,

RB1000 doesn't have any wireless capability or miniPCI slots ;)

Hello Forum,

Any idea about how to integrate RB1000 with an AP for wireless client ? Now RB1000 is serving for pppoe through cable. I've some Wi-Fi client who wants to get connected. How to integrate those clients with RB1000?

Just take a RB433AH (it has 3 mini-cpi slots) and use bridged or EoIP link'd to the RB1000.

RB600 uses a similar CPU to the RB1000, it's also a very fast device and has 4 miniPCI slots and gigabit ports. RB433UAH also is very fast.
