offset or parabolic antena

Wed Mar 25, 2009 1:55 pm

the PTP link will be for 25KM
what is the best choice for antennas; an offset antenna or a parabolic antenna ? the feeder that is used is Interline 5Ghz feeder and in one end at 4m is a GSM tower (this I think is not good)! Please help. What would be the best choice ?

Best regards Remus

I would suggest solid parabolic for better reception and easy for the alignment..

I understand that I would do so but 2 friend of mine engineers sad that a offset antenna is more efficient, indeed is not that easy to align. and the interference what is better ? offset or parabolic ?

In our case, we choose the Pacific wireless product due to ...
1) Very good reputation.
2) Narrow beam width.
3) With 5.8Ghz antenna feed horn it can run for the 5G full range (Tested for 10KM distance).
4) If interference, you can change the polarity easily.

I have tested and I confirm that a offset antenna 1,2m is more efficient and better performance, in compare with parabolic 1,5 for my link on 25KM. Thanks anyone for effort to respond to the topic
