Hot Spot Issues

Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:21 pm

Hi Guys
We are having some issues with the hotspot. Im running 3.14 at most sites. The issue we are having looks to be dns related. Unless we have a static entry in dns for the hotspot users don't see the login page. The problem is every now and then this static entry disapears and then users can't login. I read somewhere to remove the dns name in the hotspot server settings but this seems to have made no difference. We are also finding alot of the users that have problems are mac users. Any ideas
Cheers

What about creating a pre-hotspot rule in NAT to resolve DNS directly instead of redirecting to port 64872.
chain=pre-hotspot action=accept protocol=udp dst-port=53
This way, all DNS requests (udp 53) go straight to destination DNS server. So far this is working for me.
