would be greatful for any help anyone could give..

Sun Aug 09, 2009 9:29 am

Hi,
i'm new at this, and just got my RB411A with a wlm54G23 compex 200mw card, yesterday and working around the clock to try to configure it.
I finally got most of it working.
but i'm having some major stability issues.
first little issue.. is it normal to lose about 15-20 db through one wall? (1 wall layer of gyprock)

2nd more important issue. I seem to be having major issues with 802.11G. when i set it on G.
and do a speed test. the cpu immediately goes to around 100% and the speed test is highly unstable.. it fluctuates between 0.1mbit and 5-6 mbit.
If i change the settings to force 802.11B. its rock solid at 6Mbit.. and i doubt its a signal issue as i put the router on top of the keyboard of my laptop.. so theres about.. 3-4 cm
separating the antenna and the laptop..
i'm on.. 3.19 i believe of the OS that came with the board.

Thanks.

If you can create a remote login to your route (internet ip) I can assist you by logging in and have a look

... ok i rebooted so now 100mbit ethernet is working more or less proprely..
but. wifi 802.11g is still unstable making the cpu 100% i think..
maybe i should upgrade the version of routerOS? its currently at 3.10

i just tried B&G. and its still doing the crazy fluctuation in speed. because it keeps spiking at 100% cpu.
i found that if i limit the available rates 24/36/54 mbits for G.
it fluctuations still but a bit higher sometimes it hits 12-13mbit. for a second before dropping back down to 1mbit or less. but it seems definately related to 100cpu for some reason. or rahter 100cpu maybe a symptom of something else. but who knows.
but using ethernet i can do 100mbits without killing the cpu.. also. i found that when i forced it on B
for 11mbits, it still uses 100% cpu but is stable at 5-6mbits.
why does using wireless seem to push it to 100% cpu with so little bandwidth?

yep i have cycled through maybe 5-6 of them.. same result.. when i lower the speed, from 54mbit to 36 or 24.. the bandwidth actually increases and the cpu is less pegged at 100%.. i dont understand what could possibly be causing this..
