a simple wireless question

Thu Aug 20, 2009 4:55 pm

hiiiii..

i hav got a 3-4 Point to point short distance wireless(2-4 km) link @5.8 GHz with 27 dbi grid antenna at both end

futhremore RB411AH + R52 at both sides.

i get decent throughput, but if i change these mini pci card with better cards like SR5, XR5, R5H or R52H or with any other card which will do 5.8 GHz and is of 400 mw or more...will it increase the noticeable througput and performance or will the increased throughput will be marginal...?
plz share ur thoughts..

thxx..

There are many factors influencing the link througput. To little power of the radios is usually not one of them.
Often a reduce of power with proper settings give you better links with higher througput.

Study the Wiki and this forum and use a link calculator (Google) to see what your link would consist of and what are the issues if througput is poor.

Without knowing your situation and configuration nobody of this forum will be able to give you a quick answer on this...
