15km Backhaul Problems - Nstream
Posted: Mon Oct 12, 2009 1:52 am
Hi,
We setup a new backup backhaul on Saturday evening, all went well and we get a stable 5mbps/5mbps with nstream enabled.
Site details:
Site A:
Mikrotik Rb433AH
Mikrotik R52N
12db Waveguide Omni
Site B:
Mikrotik Rb411
Ubiuiti XR5
22db Panel
15.6km Clear LOS Clear Fresnel
Link Stats:
When we setup the link the other night the stats were similar to the above, with nstream on we had no issues doing 5mbps/5mbps on the link. Come Sunday morning the link was in and out like a yoyo complaining about Extensive data loss.
We disabled Nstream and link was semi-stable again but only getting 2mbps/2mbps as soon as we enable nstream the link drops out with the same error, I enabled wireless debug in logging and can see nothing too much out of the norm.
We know the Waveguide omni is a slow point in the link and will be upgrading it to a directional antenna this week but need to get these issues sorted first as it was stable for a few hours after install then went down hill form there.
We have tried different channels but no improvment, we have tried to try 10mhz & 5mhz channels but for some reason the xr5 cannot find these :S I have verified the R52N is infact broadcasting on the correct channels at 5mhz and 10mhz but the Rb411 & xr5 cannot see these so this is another mystery.
Anything you think we could be doing wrong that could be causing this would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Cameron
