WDS vs Tunnel

Thu Mar 04, 2010 3:10 pm

Hello, I have read some users here saying that WDS is not as effective as IP tunnels for 11n links.

Is anyone able to confirm that and give any ideas on real world differences and examples in throughput?

For 11n bridging VPLS is the best/fastest solution.

Thanks I have read someone, possibly you saying that here.

Have you any idea how much faster in real life? I was looking for more detail?

heh ... wds doesnt work fine on N. So it makes no sense to compare.

Eoip vs vpsl in real link (about 40mbps real tcp) its 40% cpu save on my

WDS works fine for us with N. But whether its giving us the best possible speed is what i'm asking. We get about 100 mbps tcp traffic on the average N links with WDS. The max rate I would imagine could possibly be something like 160mbps ideally so wonder if changing to an IP tunnel will give a little more bandwidth?

I tested with EOIP tunnels a while ago but it was slower that WDS in m experience. Have any of you guys found different in real life or is this just hearsay? Also what is the problem with WDS?

802.11n speed is limited over WDS bridges, this method doesn't have such limitations

Thanks my friend, that works out about right numbers wise by my stats. They say 60% more so 100 -160mbps is what I am getting compared to what the link speed is.
