Hotspot - limit interface bandwidth and every user

Tue Apr 06, 2010 4:27 am

Hi,

I am trying to set up a little hotspot for public use - I have a 4MBit ADSL line, but I don't want to give all the bandwidth - so I want to limit wlan interface to 1MBit. Then I want every hotspot user to get download speed up to 128kbit/s - I am able to do that with SQ, but how should I limit the bandwidth on the wlan interface at the same time - SQ can't help here much...

Thanks

Is there any way how to limit the interface and users at the same time?

Setup up a queue tree, and packet marks and you can setup the queues to the limit that you want. On ours we are queueing this so that people are able to upload to 256k even though our connection allows more. I do not know if this will help you but this is one thing that we have done.
