i hav got a PTP link at 5 Km distance using
Site A =411AH+compex 23 mw a/b/g card running at 5.8(Turbo 40MHz) + 5 GHz 24 dbi hyperlink Grid antenna

Site B = 411AH+compex 23 mw a/b/g card running at 5.8(Turbo 40MHz) + 5 GHz 24 dbi hyperlink Grid antenna

i got a 35 Mbps one side throughput out of this link.

i hav just purchase a pair of R52Hn in hope to get more thorugh put

i just wanna replace compex mini pci with R52Hn each side, and leave rest of the hardware unchanged. can i get better throughput on same ordinary 5GHz antennas.

would i get real benefit of N, or Shd change the antennas
is it if i use the regular 5 Ghz anntena,I only get data rates upto MCS7 and not upto MCS15.

i m using ROS 4.11 is it ok for N.

ROS 4.11 is OK for N.

Single chain N is still very fast. You will see a big speed increase from 802.11a to 802.11n but obviously your dishes are single chain so without an upgrade to dual-chain you will not get the maximum available speeds. It all depends on how much you need and how hard it is to upgrade and re-point your antennas.

If you decide to change antennas then I recommend you get two RocketDishes. They work well for dual chain.

Please post your results using the R52HN cards when you know them. I will be very, um, curious to see how well it works for you................

Alternatively you could add a second antenna to each side for the second chain. Or two antennas on one side and a dual-polarity rocketdish on the other.

so its means its not neccessary to change antenna if i need single and still i can get better speed then 802.11.a, right ?

can i use WDS to create point to point link using "N" single chain, bec i wanna bridge two networks transperently.

Yes, WDS works for 802.11n.

Yes, you can use a same single-polarity antenna for 802.11n and get better speeds than 802.11a.

802.11n is not a stable as 802.11a with respect to CCQ. I can regularly achieve a stable 100% CCQ link with 802.11a but same link with 802.11n is maybe 90-100% CCQ. But speeds are definitely better. Just FYI.

hii..sorry but i dont hav enough time to install new R52Hn cards..bec i m busy with some other network issues.. but i will definately post the results here as soon i hang them up on the mast
What do u think, will it be a good idea to use 40 Mhz in "N"
sory for too many qureies but i hav never used N..so...i m little unknown to it..
