I am trying to get a MC8790 Mini-PCIe card working on a RB411U. The RB411U does detect the card, but the serial communications to the device don't seem to work.

I saw this topic about a firmware upgrade for the MC8790:

I have tried the upgrade on 2 Windows laptops with a Mini-PCIe slot but in both cases the upgrade software doesn't detect the card. For this I had removed the wireless card from the laptop and have put the MC8790 in that slot.

Does anyone have an idea how to upgrade this card?

I managed to get things working without any upgrade of the MC8790. My RouterOS version is 5.0rc7.

This my config for connecting to the KPN 3G network:
Only problem I still have is the info-channel AND data-channel seem to be 3, so I cannot get any info when I'm connected.

I have similar problems.

Where do you find which is the DATA CHANNEL and INFO CHANNEL?

My present config is the following:

I Wasn´t able to find the KEEP ALIVE option to...

and

When i untick the DIAL ON DEMAND option i´am not able to put the interface on running mode

Can you help me with this 3 points (bold).

@Ak47: thanks for sharing, i have the same problems with rb411u and a MC8781. Ill get autenticated, and after that, hungup...

The firmware upgrades didnt go well, since winxp didnt see the card, i tried 2 laptops.
Anyway, will test you're settings toworrow at work...

@luis: untik dial on demand and untik add default route, go to /ip firewall, make src-nat, action masqurade, then go to /ip route and add default route to ppp-out1.

It works like a dream for me on a rb433 with huawei e220 modem.

Problem solved.

I've used Windows 7, and did see AirCard 881U in the device list.
I downloaded firmware for Aircard 881U (MC8781) at the link below, ran the software and reset the mikrotik configuration, and everything works fine
