3x3 & 6x6 MIMO

Thu May 19, 2011 1:32 am

Anybody has any experiance with 3x3 MIMO?

I found this product, but I wouldn't know of manufacturer of radio to use it. Definately not MT.
Future mayby (MT?).

Same for 6x6: http://www.lanbowan.com/products/en_vpro.asp?id=714

...More than 2x2 mimo i really don't understand..

You have H. Polarity, and V. Polarity, and have can have large isolation between. What other

polarities can you really use on a spatial stream other than to use as diversity?

Circular polarity is only 3 db isolation...

I found this article, you will benifit from a read:

2x2 mimo is with two antennas, 3x3 mimo is with three antennas. it's not about polarity.

normis, has MT any plans in 3x3 directions?

Hello!
Is there any progress in mimo3x3?
Can you recommend a wireless card mimo3x3 with channel speeds up to 450 Mbps.
Thank you very much!

Thank you for your reply.
I realized that the mikrotik support chipset AR9380, but what about the AR9390 wireless card "Compex WLE300NX MINI PCI Express Card."
I have a question about the polarization of the antennas in mimo3x3.
In mimo2x2 vertical and horizontal. What should be the polarization of the antennas have to mimo3x3?
Thank you for your prompt reply.

PS: I have an English poorly, do not judge harshly.

I was thinking about doing this with 3 omnis. This chipset supports beamforming.

I don't know how well it would work, but it sounds like it has possibility.

Now I have is offset antenna with bipolar radiator. That is, mimo2x2. Radio link throughput ~ 200 Mbps half-duplex.
I want to replace the wireless card on mimo3x3 and make another radiolink mimo1x1 and connected to the chain 3 in wireless card.
What do you think?

I'm also waiting for a microtik 3x3 card. Is it in the pipeline?

Wow! What are the antenna and the wireless card did you use? What is the distance between mikrotik?

Does anybody know if there is anything on the market yet that is a completed outdoor unit that has the 3x3 antenna configuration and setup ready out of the box?

There is few ready solutions for MIMO 3x3 as CyberBajt for example http://www.cyberbajt.com/en/shop_item/3 ... o_3x3.html. Also Wireless Instruments has an antennas for MIMO 3x3 http://www.wireless-instruments.com/en/ ... -18hv.html.

The fact is that MIMO 3x3 works with 3 antennas and there is no matter of the polarization as was said by normis, but... for the spatial multiplexing (without reflections) you need really good separation between data streams (chains). It can be realized by 3 different polarizations, and... there is more than simply H and V, there are also "slant polarizations", so rotations of eg. 45degrees.

The good antenna is a key in MIMO 3x3. There is only few companies which offer this solution. I don't know anyone who uses Lanbowan, I know that CyberBajt ready solution works.

The problem is with range and the final price, and the throughput of 450Mbps is in theory only I remind :) 3x3 needs to be still developed.

To be sure 6x6 is not possible in 802.11n standard, unless you meant 2 x MIMO 3x3.

6x6 is possible in 802.11ac standard for example, but I think that making good antennas for that band would be a bit problematic.

It will not really help. I try it
Using the 3d chain only on RX u will receive additional 30mbps only.

If only MT developers make it possible to use AR93xx with 60Mhz channel - even 450Mbps throughput will be possible :D
