Help with 11n link of 32KM

Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:33 pm

Hello,

I have a 32KM link with 433AH and XR5's. Signal is -66 since 3 months ago.. and now, some days is going to -92 during 2 hours-3hours and slowly returns to -6x (during 5 or 7 hours...) later is working in -6x during 1 or 2 days and -8x or -9x.. it's crazy. The weather is the "same" as 3 months before. "No" new antennas in the tower and all seems to be the same. Antennas are like the first day.. O_O

Signal is: 40Mhz channel < 20 <10<5Mhz channel.. and the ccq is better with 5Mhz. The CCQ and signal is better in 5.8 than 5.4.. and the noise in 5.4 is -95.. months before, it was -100 or -103..

Now I'm trying to fix the issue using 11n and the new 5.9 firmware.

Wich card do you recommend? ubnt? mikrotik? DBii?
I want to try a ciberbajt dual polarization antenna with box included in the antenna (no LMR400 needed : D! )
I will use 433AH or 411AH, can't use RB800 because the boads don't fits in the box.

thanks,

I have a similar link today, but only with SR5 cards and 40mhz bandwidth.

Planing to change this to use R52HN card, RB433 and http://en.jirous.com/antenna-5ghz/jrc-29-dx-pr antennas.

I noticed that the mikrotik card have better noise level than the http://ubnt.com cards.

And with this box mountet to the antenna should be a nice solution. Support for RB411, RB433 and RB600/RB800 http://en.jirous.com/Accessories-complements/jr-300

I don't have this antenna in Spain, and I don't like plastic boxes. We had many problems with these boxes in towers with a lot of antennas.

I think Mikrotik will solve your problem with a new wireless radiocard soon.

Sometimes probs like that are more obvious? Have you looked for any moisture in connectors or an obstruction appearing only at certain times? Also if uding N I found better to disable things like default calibration and interference resilience. And have you tried using advanced rates and NV2?

we tried all. :?

look for the signal: 4 months at -60 very stable and now: http://screencast.com/t/K6IpY9QG9YGA

We tried NV2, Nstreme, 5 and 10 Mhz channels, higher channels, intermediate, etc. All is the same. Sometimes the signal stays again at -65 during hours.. but not usually.

We will try to use 433AH with SR71-15 and doble polarized antenna of cyberbajt. I tell you the results... x(

I also plan to use the same antenna and RB800
Have you tested this setup with RB800? and can you share your results?

Thanks!

We have many problems with this link, because traffic stops when the board wants.. sometimes the wlans show 10-12 kbps and we have to disable-enable the wlan of one side. This solves the problem O_O. We have a ticket in support, but no solution at all.

We will double this link, due to this problems using rstp (!!!!!!!!!!) and let's see how it will work. We will use Jirous double pol and Dbii cards. We will try the R52Hn too.. then.. we will try the same link with 3 cards.

sometimes, this problem coud be fixed changing rf cables.
the singla level variations could be due to water inside them.

Mmm.. it's not my case. SURE.

The board is inside the antenna box.. and we connect the pigtail directly to the antenna with a mmcx-N female connnector.

We had similar problem to you long time ago. The problem was very very strong signal in totaly another band (around 100MHz ant 150W as FM radio retranslation). After they instaled this monster 2m from our antenas, they all gone mad. We was not abel to connect on it from 10m distance. The cards had nearly muted down all input amplifiers, because they dont wanted to be destroyed by this massive magnetic waves comming form this FM antena. We found similar problems on places shared with GSM operators wich are too close to us, cos they are also using high power radios like 5-25W in 900 or 1800 bands.

So is it possible you have something very strong signal emitating nearly your system ?

Hi ibersytems,
Is one of the antennas of this link directed east or south? If yes, is the link stopping Transport traffic in the morning between 8:00am - 10am?
I had one link in years 2003 - 2005 (5,8ghz radiolan hardware) it drives me crazy. On some days in January and February every morning the link stopped passing traffic for arround 30-60min.
In this situation always the sun was rising by best cold weather conditions.
I changed antenna to a hornantena and it helped.
We had this issuein Africa by sundown too.

So my conclusion is , it is related to sun.
Do not worry about it will go away latest end of February :D
