Connection looks good but no data passing thru???! v5.13/.14

Mon Feb 27, 2012 1:59 pm

The performance of v5.13 and .14 has greatly improved BUT...... I'm having a very big problem with the connections hanging out of the blue and just stop passing traffic!!!!! My work-around has been to use watchdog BUT..... watchdog only allows one IP addy to watch - this is a big problem!!!!! This is happening on both eth ports and 5.8 BH connections.

Can you make watchdog look at more then one IP Addy???!

Thank you,
Rod

The irony is that it happens once a day or less and only on primary BHs - really no way to put your finger - one that was screwing last week has been really stable but another that had been stable went crazy this weekend - 3 times.

Hi,
are you using OSPF? We have on several APs short outgages in network connectivity.

At first I thought it come from OSPF
"Discarding packet: no neighbor with this source address
RouterID=XXX.XXX.XXX.YYY
source=XXX.XXX.XXX.YYY

But now I think it is from a short ethernet outgages (like port flapping described in several threads).
Support told ethernet flapping was fixed in 5.13, but who knows?

By the way throughput has really improved.

Ill add a 'me too' here, im seeing bridge and AP wlans go to 0bps tx data, stations remain connected, just unreachable. disable/enable fixes it. completely random, might be triggered by low signal or flapping station, only seems to affect nv2. support have been sent multiple supouts with no result as yet.

its mysterious but nasty bug affecting our uptime and reputation, needs rapid fixing.

Are these 2.4GHz links or 5GHz?
If 2.4 then it is an Atheros problem.
Seems to be a datarate issue when using atheros 2.4N.

in my case its affecting 5GHz, im not sure why its a atheros problem only if it affects 2.4, seems it could be a driver issue either way, or in the nv2 code more likely.

affects too many manufacturers to be a driver issue.

Can i add our name to the list.

We have a 5Ghz A/N base station in AP/Bridge mode. 5 Clients (SXTs) in station bridge mode. NV2 accross whole lot. about 10-20Mbps average traffic each day and we have a crash every few days. All units within 1KM and good signal (-60/-65)

Also have a support.rif of the affected unit during the crash. We do not loose contact to the base but all links will show as up and not pass any traffic?

Jon

Sorry forgot to add. ROS5.14 on RB433

Yes, all clients have the latest firmware. On some sites NV2 works. But most did not. I now have a new AP + RB711GA big Airmax sector. Approximately 13 clients. And every day the AP problem. AP stops transmitting data through. I have to reboot or turn off and turn on the interface.
