2 single chain antenna from duo chain radio?

Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:55 pm

How would it work if you connect two sector antenna's not overlapping each others sector, and connect both to the same radio card working in 802.11n mode?

Each antenna now only works with one of the two chains, could a single chain 802.11n radio now connect to either one of these and reach connection rates of 150Mbps?

I do something similar with a multi mode card working in 802.11a but both chains connected to a sector and thus covering a wide sector with good signal and still only one frequency.

What would happen if this card in 'n' mode now would serve each sector with a 'n' protocol signal.
And what would happen if I also increase the bandwidth to 40Mhz? Are both chains needed on the multi chain CPE for 40Mhz?

Anybody been playing with these kind of setups?

The single chain clients would only be 65Mb max unless you used 40MHz.

I don't know how that would work with dual chain clients.

I still haven't done one like this. Too much going on to upgrade an AP that isn't broken. I will try this unless something changes.
