I'm sorry to hijack this topic.. Is there good reason to get a AR9390 card instead of a AR9380 card?
I found this little comparison:
Image
The AR9390 is 3x more expensive.. Does anyone have experience with both cards?

There are no 3x3 minipci cards available, only minipci-express.

3X3 minipci card is not available?
Can I ask why not available?
Router OS is not compatible with 3X3 minipci card? or RB800 is not compatible with RB800?

I was recommanded 3X3 minipci card from Nomis.

No, in that topic I have not recommended a specific model. I just sait that RB800 is good for 3x3. RB800 has miniPCI-e slot for such card.

Hello again Roy,
1. A real mini PCI card with 3 antenna connectors (3x3) called SR71-A Outdoor 3x3 802.11n MIMO mini-PCI Module (UBNT)
http://shop.varia-store.com/product_inf ... UBNT-.html
There is a small mistake
SR71 is not real 3x3 card. It's 2x2 card with the possibility of connecting three antennas

My 5 cent;
The WLE300NX is very low power - probably more suited for laptops than outdoor applications. I'm also a strong believer of single-band cards. If they are both 2.4 and 5 GHz - like the 300NX, they suffer from poorer performance (TX power and RX sensitivity) than a single band. I got this from the manufactures themselves. The upcoming WLE350 family from Compex looks promising though - quite nice specifications.

I'm also a strong believer of the concept with only one RF-card for each unit - not multiple cards on same board inside same enclosure, hence I find the RB800 a little "over the top". Big and expensive board with significant power requirements - and with fan cooling it is also less suited for embedding. http://www.mimotec.net/ - These guys are working on a interesting Mikrotik solution for 3x3. I'll get my gigalink sample in week or so - for testing. I'll report back if you are interested...

The 9390 is suppose to be from cherry picked chips, higher heat tolerance.

It is the industrial/commercial grade chip.

I have found this:

I think that it's like 9380/90 chip, but only for 5Ghz, so it should work.

Don’t know if AR9580/90 will work on Mtik yet, but AR9380/90 does. The Mimotec Gigalink I’m waiting for is equipped with WLE300N5-22 – so single band 5GHz AR5380/90. Like I said, these new cards support interesting things - like Transmit Beamforming (TxBF) and Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) – and the WLE350 family have really nice TX power levels for being mPCI-E cards.

We are on a pre-launch program with them, but still waiting for the units – will get them next week I hope. Will test for a week , and then move it into production if ok - our SOP (standard operation procedure). I’ll post results for our standard 10 km test-link.

Testing postponed until next week :? They hope to have units ready by end of this week - so hope to test next week. Got message that the RF is AR9580/90 though - so it must be supported then.

Also, the first models will not have 48V af support - only 24V passive. That sucks as I really prefer to use my gigabit POE switches...

2. Two mini PCIe cards with 3 antenna connectors (3x3) as shown in the next two links.

Compex WLE300NX 6B miniPCIe WLAN Card, 450Mbps, SST3, 3x3 MIMO

Compex WLE300NX 6A miniPCIe WLAN Karte, 450Mbps, SST3, 3x3 MIMO

What is the difference in them?
ok, that was stupid question... it is in atheros chipset A model has AR9380 and B has AR9390.

We had to put it on hold for now - due to same issues that many other are having with disconnects. But, we'll do some more testing pretty soon - now that 5.21 is out.

The 3x3 MIMO is not easy stuff to cope with, and the antenna performance is critical in every way. The port to port isolation is one thing, the other will be the polarity separation. While you can achieve a 20dB separation on 2x2 MIMO - going horizontal/vertical, you will not get more than 6-7dB, on dual slant + vertical in 3x3 MIMO. But, all this will be spoilt with a poor port to port isolation antenna.

Running 3x3 on coax cables (with attenuators), we see +300 Mbps throughput - so there is a potential there. Our 3x3 testing is on hold for now, as we get enough capacity on 2x2 anyway.

If someone are interested, I have some mPCI-E to mPCI adaptors to run 3x3 MIMO on i.e. RB411GL - and a some Compex WLE350N5-23 (top industry grade AR9590 that push out 3x23 dBm). A lot more convenient than the huge RB800 - and less expensive. Even have a few 3x3 MIMO antennas with enclosures that will fit these combos excellent.

what is achieved with this configuration??

I don't sure that the czolo antennas can work on 49km... 29dbi is nice max on 10-12km link for 450mbps link rate, and 320 real TCP...
So in addition, i think that the dual slant feed dipole can't have the fine cross pol..
I try the same scheme with 2 antennas on each side one dual pol. antenna slant + one vertical additional antenna. They not work at 450mbps link speed.
And in my scheme i used the 175cm offsets with http://www.antenna.cz/nn-12/par5.html.

I used Intel DN2800MT+JJplus AR9390-AL1B with czech feeds as dual pol feed+plus polish Interline feed as third.
The signals level was -56dbm on 15dbm Tx power. The maximum speed i received on 300/300 link speed
with 3 RX chains and 2 TX chains, around 210mbps one way UDP.
