RB951-2n wireless issue

Fri Oct 12, 2012 12:29 am

Hello,

I bought RB951-2n a week ago and since that time tried to solve wireless issue: wi-fi station (laptop) very often lost connection or signal level becomes very low on station side, but normal from mikrotik device (see screenshot). I tried all combination: 802.11n only, g only, wpa2, wpa, without encryption - the result was the same. I don't think this is a lack of ap power: distance is only 4m behind one wall. I tried to change a wi-fi adapter to external usb one (D-link DWA-140) also. The behavior is the same. Download speed is jumping from 100 to 600 kB/s.
My old device Dlink DAP-1160 works fine with all wifi-adapters.
The interesting thing: RB951-2n works perfect as wireless station with Dlink DAP-1160 in the same conditions and dinstance.
There are no other wireless ap around, so no interference.

RouterOS: 5.20
Mode: bridge

I've upgraded the RouterOS to 5.21 and firmware to 3.0

cpu-frequency becomes 360MHz as in device specification, not 400. But wireless problems still exist.

Do you mean 360mhz or 300mhz?

That should have fixed the wireless issue completely, unless you have some completely different issue. Are you sure that it's not because of environmental conditions or other factors?

I tried all combinations: 2 AP (dlink, mikrotik RB951-2n) and 3 stations (laptop Atheros built-in, laptop dlink usb, mikrotik RB951-2n as station). All works fine, except schemas where RB951-2n is AP. Maybe I need to set up fixed datarates?

I am having a problem with my new RB9521-2n. The signal sometimes drops very low and disconects.
When i try to scan for other wireless access points through winbox (to set up the correct chanell), it shows just 2 APs, There is an other access point with "SSID:0101010100011", its 10m away from the RB951-2n but it doesnt show that at all in the scan list, also i presume that there are more networks which it doesnt show. Why?

I have upgraded to 5.21, but still no luck.
