Noise feature anomolies

Tue Feb 07, 2006 8:26 am

I upgraded to 2.9.12 on one of my production systems which uses an omni and seems to constantly be fighting interference issues to take a look at some of the new noise features in MT but they don't seem to be working as I would expect them to. As an example, if I run the Frequency Usage tool, it shows the following:
FREQ USE
2412MHz 7.6%
2417MHz 7%
2422MHz 12.8%
2427MHz 4.7%
2432MHz 5.4%
2437MHz 8.5%
2442MHz 5.7%
2447MHz 10.1%
2452MHz 2.5%
2457MHz 8.8%
2462MHz 21.2%
2462 goes from 15-28% and 2412 goes from 6-19% which is pretty consistant with what we have seen by trying to use those channels and receiving interference. We have been operating around 2452 and 2432 on this AP with the best results but if I use the new noise-floor feature when I am on 2452 it shows a noise floor of -96dBm and a overall CCQ of 79% even though all my clients come up with good signals, little to no packetloss, etc. If I swith the AP to 2462, I have several CPE's that are negotiating data rates, start having lots of packetloss, etc but if I run the monitor command on the interface, it shows noise floor as -99dBm and CCQ 81%.

Anyone else seeing strange results with the noise floor and overall CCQ values?

I omitted the SSID and MAC addresses of everything, I assume the frequency and signal is all you were interested in
