How to mount 3G indoor antenna on RB411 case?

Thu Jan 03, 2013 2:49 pm

Hi,

I have a 3G solution with 3G modem card (Sierra wireless). I want to connect the antenna to it. For example, something like this:

http://www.techship.se/products/umts-gs ... tgsma-5-1/

or this

http://www.techship.se/products/gsm-umt ... r-antenna/

I need a pigtail from mmcx or ufl to SMA (or the kind of connector on antenna), but how can I fixate this antenna on the case? I need some adapter.
When you buy Mikrotik's omni antenna:

You get the adapter for connecting it to the case. But I don't know the solution for the case that I have.

Does someone have any solution for this?

You have to drill a hole in the case for the sma pigtail on your own. These black indoor cases do not support most popular (rp)sma connectors, which is a pitty.

There are holes in the back

but how to fixate the antenna (other than Mikrotik's omni) to that?

You have to buy a u.fl to sma-rp pigtail or mmcx to N pigtail to attach another antenna. To use a a sma connector you have to drill a hole. Without drilling holes you can use such awkward workaround like visible on the attached picture:

OK, thank you very much.

Thought that there is some more elegant solution with some kind of adapters for those bigger holes. Cause the customer wants to order couple of hundreds devices and drilling holes every time is not the best solution for us, but if there is nothing else...
