AP: 5GHz only-N - Client without N support can connect

Tue Jan 22, 2013 11:10 pm

Hello,
I have an RB411AH set as AP. 2x2 MIMO card inside, set to 5ghz-N only mode.
How is it possible that simple R52 card can connect to???
I can understand it can work with A/N, but N only???

Uldis: please explain.
only-N does not (should) means, that only N can connect to?

As i mentioned, those clients are NOT N compatible. How they can connect to an N-only AP ???
i think the only answer is "N-only" does not (really) means N only...

Arnold: the problem is
- AP running 5ghz N-only mode
- N-incompatible client (like R52 or R5H) can connect to in A mode

The client not in A/N mode, since hardware NOT supports N, so that mode is NOT offered.
