433AH + XR5 upgrade from 802.11A

Mon Mar 04, 2013 9:59 pm

I would like to upgrade from 433AH + XR5 to increase throughput on PTP links currently running on 802.11A considering running on N for PTP links and for sectors currently using XR5 + NV2, seeking practical advice on best board + radio cards for each option.

Hi
I think you don't need to change your RouterBOARD. Just change your mini-pci card to R5SHPn. With this change, you increase data rate up to 150Mbps. If you need more data rate and more bandwidth you can use any 802.11n card with 2 chain and required tx power; and use dual polar antenna.

Would changing the board to RB800 or equivalent (is there equivalent to this board) also improve wireless throughput?

I really don't think so.

433AH is a pretty quick board.

How many mangle rules, queues, etc?

What is your CPU usage?

No mangle rules just dynamic queues from pppoe server, CPU 40- 60% approx (with V5.20 graphing is not working so hard to tell CPU load ?)
