Setup a 1 Km Radius Point to Multipoint Link

Tue Mar 12, 2013 8:25 am

Hi,

I'm a beginner in the field of Wireless Networking, though I'm with Mikrotik for a couple of months. I want to set up a point to multipoint connection for providing Internet Service as well as for my Practical Learning Purpose.
My main aim is to setup an antenna on my House's Roof. I have a 1 mb dedicated internet connection. I have clients withing 1 km radius from my house. I want them to connect to my tower and provide them with Internet Access. Since I'm located in a city clear line of sight is not there for 2 of my clients.

What products should I use?

Thanks,
Srijit

We use Arc Wireless 23 dbi and Laird 19 dbi panel antennas. We have had to set up as many as four however to cover different directions.

So...you can do your connection with as little as three antennas assuming your clients are more or less in the same direction. You'll need a fourth if they are not.

Don't forget to get as much physical separation as you can between your antennas on your main backhaul mast or tower.
