RB951G-2HND Wireless problem

Fri Apr 19, 2013 10:32 pm

Hello,
I have a problem with my new router RB951G: when I connect to the router via WIFI and sending ping requests I see long response time from router. Wireless link is very unstable, even winbox often disconnects. Wireless interface set to b/g mode because PC is with same type wireless card. Wireless card in PC is working fine - with old AP I haven't any problems yet. Between router and PC is about 3 meters.
Printscreen of pinging to wifi client:

Wireless config compact:
# apr/19/2013 19:22:51 by RouterOS 5.24
# software id = FMCN-163N
#
/interface wireless security-profiles
add authentication-types=wpa-psk,wpa2-psk eap-methods=passthrough \
    group-ciphers=tkip,aes-ccm management-protection=allowed mode=dynamic
    name=saugumas supplicant-identity="" unicast-ciphers=tkip,aes-ccm \
    wpa-pre-shared-key=xxxxxx wpa2-pre-shared-key=xxxxxx
/interface wireless
set 0 band=2ghz-b/g
    mode=ap-bridge n

Full wireless export is here

Maybe somebody has same problem and know how solve it?
If it is necessary for more config exports - let me know.

Sorry for my bad english :)

Any typical router has ~17dbm of wireless power. RB951G-2HND has 30dbm. Try to move the router away from the pc and see if is better. Or lower the power. Also try Advanced or Legacy data rate.

I've found increasing the frame lifetime to 3 or 4 and your 'distance" to "indoors" (both are in the wireless advanced tab in the GUI) helps with this type of issue. Please let me know what your results are with this unit. I've been thinking of purchasing one for my home.

[andrius@MikroTik] /interface wireless> set wireless rate-selection=legacy
[andrius@MikroTik] /interface wireless> set wireless tx-power-mode=card-rates
[andrius@MikroTik] /interface wireless> set wireless tx-power=1
[andrius@MikroTik] /interface wireless registration-table> print
 # INT... RADIO-NAME       MAC-ADDRESS       AP  SIGNAL... TX-RATE UPTIME
 0 wir...                  00:14:A5:F7:66:88 no  -55dBm... 48.0... 40s
[andrius@MikroTik] /interface wireless> set wireless distance=indoors
Moved PC away from router as far I can.

No results, ping still with the same response time (>15ms).

Q: In Current Tx Power tab values was not changed, it always shows about 26dBm, even when Tx power card rates was set to 1dBm. Is it normal?

Try removing tkip in your security profile.

Problem still persists, and there is new problem: when I wake up today I found that router's config has changed: bridge deleted, master port of interfaces changed, fierwall and nat rules are deleted to. Restored from backup, and now it's working, but I starting to think that device is defective...
