Upgraded backhaul, now runs slower

Wed Sep 18, 2013 7:12 pm

I've been upgrading the entire plant to 5.25 since it seems to work better for nearly everything.

I upgraded my first AP, RB600, from 3.30 to 5.25. I have a 2.4GHz AP, 900MHz AP, 5805MHz AP and 5825MHz backhaul all on this unit. I know it is over packed, I've adjusted the channel spacing and tx power so that I have near 100% CCQ on each interface. The 5805 AP only has one client right now, the 5825 backhaul is the only link running nstreme. I do have other 5GHz APs on the tower that have not been causing any issues with 3.30, running 10MHz at 5755 and 20MHz @ 5280.

After upgrading from 3.30 to 4.17 everything ran fine. Upgrade to 5.25 and the backhaul's tx is now fluctuating between 54mb all the way down to 6mb. I enable nv2 and it is 54mb 99% ccq, just like it was previously on nstreme. Nv2 seems to be interfering with my other links on the tower, otherwise I would just leave it as is.

My question is, first off, is there any way to get nstreme working in 5.25 like it was in 3.30 and if not, can I tune nv2 a bit so that it won't cause issues with the other links on the tower?

I played with NV2 and got everything running quite smoothly. I changed the TDMA period size to 10ms for my backhauls and it works quite nicely, 98-99% CCQ constantly, almost never drops below 98%, even after I lowered the TX power an additional 4dBm on each PTP shot.

I'm impressed.

How did you low the power? What mode do you use?
