Extend RB751G-2HnD wireless signal

Mon Nov 11, 2013 10:08 am

Hi,
scenario;
I setup hotspot using RB751G-2HnD, user will be authenticated via hotspot server by key-in pre-registered username & password.

question;
1- i am looking an option to extend the wireless signal to another building.
note : the location of this RB751G-2HnD is inside our server room. it might be difficult to move the RB751G-2HnD because it connected to 2 WAN connections located inside the room.

goal;
1- extend wireless
2- keep the authentication method same as the RB751G-2HnD (username & password)

thanks.

You can use another radio that is bridging the wireless and the Ethernet back to your hotspot. Then just bypass that router so that you can still manage it. All of the users will flow right into your hotspot.

Run the hotspot on the bridge. Put in that bridge the LAN ports and the WiFi interface.

Run a cable from any LAN port to a seeprate (remote) access point (can be also a different manufacturer). People who connect to that AP, will be "served" by the hotspot on the RB751.

the Hotspot can be configured on a WiFi interface OR on a LAN interface. That is the beauty of it. So you can have 10 AP's connected, and still ONE RB751 as a user manager / authenticator.

Thanks haik.
I already run a hotspot on wifi and wish to extend the coverage.
Do you mean; I can run multiple hotspot or multiple AP?
If multiple AP, I make the LAN as bridge is it?
If multiple hotspot, can i make use the current user manager?
Thanks.
