Antenna Pointing with SXT 5G

Sun Dec 08, 2013 6:47 pm

:D Hi All, I have a new Sextant 5G ready to go into service. Once tower leg mounted and connections are complete to the building I need to begin the task of getting the two antennas on target with each other. Is there a tool included to help with this? What is the best method you have found?
Much Thanks!

You have 2 people required.
The first person is on site a.
Second person stands on site b.
Person 1 align the antenna until the best signal is found.
Person 2 align the antenna until the best signal is found.
Do this a few times until the best signal is reached.
Thats the only way to align a antenna

It all depends on the distance between site A and site B. If the distance is such that you cannot see site B from A, i recommend you use a GPS and Compass. But if you can see each other, just go and install facing each other as exact as you can until you the best signal.

If using the GPS, track your position from Site A, and do same at site B, on your GPS, route A to B and you will get the bearing and the distance between them. Point the antenna at A to the given angle and also at B, use the distance to set the acktimeout for best result especially if the distance is over 20km.

With this, the perming of the antennas will be minimal as you already know the exact directions.
