How many SXT clients on 1 Basebox with dualpole sector & nv2

Mon Oct 06, 2014 8:59 pm

Can anybody says how many SXT clients can handle 1 Basebox with ubnt dualpole secor if I use nv2 ? How many clients should I be able to connect. Users are mostly 2-3Mbps packets, and I can bring 100Mbps on basebox, but how many clients can I connect on wireless.
It depends on Basebox cpu or card's abilities ??

I know that CM9 or R52 using 802.11 can handle about 15 clients.
Thank You

I've reached 70 clients (all them SXT) on a Omnitik.

On heavy load hours, ping is about 15ms, and total traffic about 20mbps.

Signals are between -50 and -69 (using satellite dish when customer is over 2km)

However, this is not a good practice.. I'd recomend you not to exceed 60 clients

Regards

I apply QoS just in L3

In another router (RB1100) I apply QoS and PCQ, limiting total bandwidth the AP can manage (I usually set it to 20mb/down and 5mb/up

Regards

So your AP can only handle 25Mb? Dont you use 802.11n MIMO and NV2? Mine can do 70Mb without any problem, not with 70 clients of course (I guess I have like 16 atm) but still 25Mbps seems quite low to me. Is the total AP bandwith going down with number of users going up?

OK thank You. So far I have 10 sxt... and I tested AP from 3.5km using SXT lite5 and I achieved 55Mbps with nv2, 20MHZ channel, and stabile ping.. I'm more than Happy :-)

i do not understand how u can connect so many.
At my place i use 3 - base box on my tower and a few groove metal and some NS5. My basebox AP's cannot handle more than 10 clients and a total bandwidth of 6-8 mbps. Latency starts to go very high. I hv tried to lower data rates as per clients requirement and to maintain ccq. Noise floor is 110 dbm.

I am not using 2.4. There are a few isp nearby who r using 2.4. but those towers are also 500-800 mtrs away

Are you using nv2?

You said you have some NS5...

Whith a few customers, 802.11 can do the job... but when it grows, you need to use nv2

i make sure that NS5 is for ubnt clients and Basebox for Mikrotiks.

nv2 does the job very well. I have few APs where I have 20 clients on 802.11a on 3km distance. All of them are working on about 10Mbps together all time and when I'm at one of clints I can achieve around 12-15Mbps on speedtest. But sometimes when frequency is busy it goes down to 2-3Mbps. Clients are mix of Ubnt NS5, NS5Loco, rootena, sxt, rb711 ect. So check your frequency.

Using nv2 on basebox and sxt as clients is whole another story. And it's working just fine and more than fine

All the numbers above are using AP's with NV2 (TDMA). Yours is about right for an 80211 mixed kit network
