I need help setting up a wireless network

Wed Jul 26, 2006 11:22 pm

Hi,

I own a Cafe and I want to offer people wireless internet access. I want them to pre-pay for a certain amount of time of use. I see that there a a few options I can go with as far as Hotspot router packages goes. I want something that integrates the administration of the users right in the router. I do not need to use RADIUS, I just want to keep a local database of users.
I want to set up the network indoors and outdoors.

What would you recommend I should get? Is MikroTik the right thing for me to go with?

Sorry I am not a pro and I want to build this myself.

Thanks for the help,
george

Hi George

Welcome to the forum, MikroTik will do what you want as it has built in Hotspot and Usermanager features that allow you to create pre-pay vouchers.

Setting up a MikroTik box is not a trivial task but well worth the trouble IMHO you can even build a test HotSpot using the trial mode of the software a PC (hard drive will be wiped) and an Wireless Access Point.

Good Luck
