The Dude SysLog limitation

Sat Feb 10, 2018 2:29 pm

Hi

I'd like to share a past history of my experience before I ask question :
I'm running a WISP company with more that 600 mikrotik wireless PTP links (which makes 1200 mikrotik devices). I've started a project a year ago for syslog feature of The Dude V3.6. Now I'm facing a serious problem that my log inputs reached to 1000 and I see some of my links are disappearing from Log section.

Now I'm doing a test on version 6.34.4 and a question come up into my mind :

1. Do we have any restriction about number of log rules in highlighted section below (old and new version) ?

2. Do we have any restriction at all with SysLog feature in new version ?

3. Its important for me to get log from every single mikrotik devices into my servers : How you can handle this kind of project ? Any special or different method than me ?

I'll be happy if anyone can share his/her experience with me here.

Thanks !

I currently use graylog to monitor logs(syslog and netflow) for a couple hundred mikrotik devices. If you tinker a little with it, it doesn't require that much resources but it's a lot more than a service on a router.Hardware needs depend a lot on the number of generated messages.
There are lots of tutorials on how to install and configure graylog on the web.
