jma_sp: I added your translation to the wiki page. What version of Dude did you use when making the translation? V2 and V3 are a little different. The file must be saved as UTF-8, then the special letters will work fine. Please, somebody check if this translation is correct.

Thank you for the translations, all! From now on, we will offer one free Level6 license for every approved translation to a language that we don't have yet.

Approved means - at least one other person from the forum must confirm that the translation is full and precise.

The authors of the Czech and Spanish translation will also receive their licenses once at least one forum member confirms that their translations are good! Let me know!

Normunds,
wanted to test my mostly finished German translation.
But everytime I put this file as "strings.txt" in the Dude installation directory (in UTF-8 format), the dude will exit after some seconds. Running without translations it will run fine.

This is with V3 b3...

Best regards,
Christian Meis

The translation was for Dude 3.0 Beta 3 but is not completed in the next days i will be continued translating.
Some translations are difficult because i dont know the real function or the context....by example serviceless
example:
wireless = inalámbrico
serviceles = ???? ethernet???

.................

Normunds forget any ' in the strings?

- Unicode UTF-8
- Have some options: CR&LF CR LF
- I finaly saved as CR & LF Is correct?
There is someway to upload as file directly?

save as `name.txt` and send to support. you still have not completed everything, example:
'Windows Computer' 'Windows Dators'
'windows metafile' 'windows metafails'
those are still in latvian

I am translating into romanian, and I have a few words wich just can't be translated and they have been adopted as such in it language. Eg.: byte, wich is exactly the same, it would be otherwise "octet", but is used in about 1% of the sentences wich include byte.

Is it ok to be so ?

of course byte is ok, just use words and terms that people in your country use and understand.

Hm.....

Sorry about my English.

But what will happend with translations when you add some new words? Every time a new string apear in strink.txt someone have to controll all text to find new one and translate it.

Or you have to inform in changelog that you add new words or sentences in strink.txt and someone have to correct it.

If a file changes, a Date will be added to the file.

How to explain it.
What will happend when you add some new keywords and I will update DUDE but l will not update strink.txt? Now CZECh is 3.1 and DUDE is 3.3.

Someone decide to update CZECH strink. But he will be bored after while to finding new english keywords (keywords what are new and are not translated yet) to translate and to add them into strink.txt.

And translate all text again..... :/

What about apostrophs? ( ' )
I see they are used to open and close strings, but in italian we use them in articles too (e.g. l'Access Point which stands for lo Access Point).
What should I use to avoid apostrophs being mistakenly taken by the software as string delimiters?

Thank you! For everyone I suggest please use the latest Dude v3 beta to make the translations.

Somebody that can test the local language translations, please confirm that they are correct and I will issue the author a free license to RouterOS. For example if somebody speaks Czech, please test the latest Dude with the appropriate Czech strings.txt file and report here if it looks correct.

What happened to Swedish, French and German? Let me know if I can help.

I translated 'Certificate' string in 'Server Configuration -> Server', but it is the only string displayed in English :( Does anybody else have the same trouble?

BSSID - Basic Service Set IDentifier. It's an international term, are you sure you want to translate that?

no, i will not translate BSSID.
what do you mean:
acked -> up, Is this up means direction?
All Up, what does this up means?
Childs, what does this means in here?
Completely Down, is this Down mean offline?
Crash Report, is this Crash mean failed?
Crypt Method , what is Crypt?

Re: Translating THE DUDE

acked - "acknowledged" It means that you have marked a problem "known". You do this when you know that there is a problem, and you don't want the alarm to sound all the time.

"acked -> up" means that the "approved" problem (see above) has resolved, and now the unit in question is working fine.

"all up" means that all services are working fine

"Childs" means something that's hierarchically aligned below something else. there is master device with other devices connected to it. the other devices are "children"
Completely Down, is this Down mean offline?
Crash Report, is this Crash mean failed?
Crypt Method , what is Crypt?
yes. crypt means "encryption"

I will try to review the translation when i will have some free time "kiket"
I´m using the same file strings.txt in dude version 3.0 beta x and works fine

Trataré de revisar la traducción cuando tenga tiempo libre "kiket", he estado usando el mismo fichero
strings.txt en dude V3.0 con sus sucesivas versiones beta y funciona bien, aunque tengo que revisarlo
porque hay palabras que se han incorporado posteriormente y no están incluidas, otras simplemente no
las encuentro de las que aparecen en la aplicación en el fichero.

Un saludo

Hi normis, others!

Finally im done with the Hungarian translation.. First i did for 3.0beta5 and then i made for the 3.0beta7 version..
It's already on the Wiki.

Maybe there're some hard-coded strings in actual Dude version(s), because in 3.0beta7 some strings are not appears to be translated, but the strings are translated well in the file.

First i thought it's my fault but today i downloaded some other language's strings.txt (serbian, bulgarian, macedonian) and the result was the same, some strings are not affected by translations (some elements of the left-side menu). Maybe you should fix this...

Normis, pls tell me how can i get my l6 license?

did you create new map or look at the old one? left-side elements are translated when they are created in localized version, AFAIK

Hi Normis,

I've just complete the translation to Arabic language, but I need to know if I had translated the following words correctly:
Antialiased=Anti aliased or non aliased?
dir= directory ?
fri = Friday !!!
sat= Saturday !!!
tue= Tuesday !!!
mon = monitor ?
oper status = operation status ?
Unack = un-acknowledged or not acknowledged?

Also, I need to know the meaning for:
oid
mib
Enums
Reasm Max Size

Finally, I hope that you are accepting the MS Excel data sheet as it was easier for me to use the columns for translating to another language.

Best Regards

Re: Translating THE DUDE

Hi all, Hi normis,

i posted now fully updated version of Czech translation that has been extended with strings that exists in all versions of The Dude (from 2.1 up to 3.0beta7) - 'Czech_all.txt'. In previous Czech translations some words has been incorrectly translated (both previous files is not my) and in context these create obscure sentence.

But i found some translation inconsistencies:

1. string 'From' is on two places: one in table header of Active Admins and one in dialog for field From e-mail address. Both has in Czech translate differently: first as 'Z adresy', second as 'Od' or 'Odesílatel'.
2. Some strings in Czech are inflection sensitive in difference from English. In Czech must be at least three words, in English just one. Best example of this is word 'New', in Czech have 'Nový' ('Object' - 'Objekt'), 'Nová' ('Map' - 'Mapa') and 'Nové' ('Device' - 'Zařízení').
3. Some strings in v3.0beta7 still cannot be translated, even if exist in translation file. Mainly all these is in main menu (tree in left screen), all strings (items) in pull-down menu on left top on content window and some is in dialogs (mainly with transfer statistics). As with pull-down menu, if i select some item, then after this, title has been correctly translated.
4. Some strings in some lists cannot be translated automatically. Maybe this is because these lists has been created from installation and maybe must be edited and translated manually. It's true or not?

Maybe these inconsistencies is in another languages too.

Thank you for this famous application!

Norwegian translation of THE DUDE.

Sun Jun 08, 2008 3:47 pm

So i have been translating The DUDE to norwegian...

But i have been using the 3 beta version 5, and not the 3 beta version 7 file.
How can I find the strings added or removed between the two versions so I can complete the translation?

To verify my translation I need a norwegian forum member, are there any norwegians here? Any volunteers?

I appreciate all input and suggestions in resolving this.

I am done translating The Dude and have uploaded it to the wiki.

As the wiki entry says, it needs verification - so please do so if you are a norwegian The Dude user.
I really need the translation verified since my home router just died and I would love to build a routeros box for my home setup as well - then the free licence would be useful!

I know there is some phrases that needs to be changed, so any suggestions are welcome. Technical software just don`t look good good in norwegian..
Drop suggestions or other in my gmail box - username is mariusbm and you know the rest... :)

Done that right when i uploaded, and got my license. Thanks MT ;)

And one other thing. Version 2.2 has some changes in translation, are these changes big enough for me to translate it, and possibly to get another license let's say a level 4. Or the phrases are the same, only that v3 has more!?

did you use the latest version empty strings file? does it work correctly when you put it in the latest Dude v3 language folder, and select it as a language?

if yes, send to support, and also upload to wiki

I used one, supplied with Dude 3 RC 2. I took russian and translated IT.

Yes i've tested everything that i could, the only problem (same with russian) shown on the screen below -- it's because other than system font is used for that labels which does not support Cyrillic.

My wife is Ukrainian philologist so we've double-checked the translation. I also sent this file to some of my friend so field-testing results will be available withing a few days and maybe i'll add some corrections.

French translation for Dude 3.4, don't forget to save it in text file made in UTF-8.
Version française pour Dude 3.4: merci de me faire part de vos remarques.
The version in http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Translati ... anslations is a robot translation :o

Hi ...

I almost finished a translation to portuguese-br (Brazil) to version 3.4 but I need help in some meanings.

'Reasm Max Size' ''

'redoable' ''

'Round Robin Data'

'Graph Poll Times'

'Graph Service Poll Times'

'serverReserved' (no space between server & Reserverd ?)

'Mastering'

'Mastering Type'

'Torch' = must be treated as a "brand"?

'TorchRequest' (no space between Torch & Request ?)

'Varbinds'

'Target Scope'

'Services status will be reported as up with following probability. Useful for debugging'

'Snmp Bridge Fdb Entry' (Fdb = Forward db?)

'Contents Pane Behavior'

'enchanced metafile' (enCHanced or enHanced ?)

'Enchanced Metafile' ''

Thanks

I hope, 'free license' questions are less important than bugtracking =)
