The Dude export takes 2+ hours

Wed Jan 15, 2020 11:30 am

Hello.
My "The Dude" server is running on RB750Gr3 and is located at USB flash drive. The Dude is running on rOS v6.45.1
Daily at night there is auto backup/export script working and it was working fine last year. Now it takes 2+ hours to make "/dude export file="disk2/Dude_configuration_backup_$date"
The database did not grow - the changes are minimal, all logging is switched off to minimize size of backup file.

Where could I start searching for the reason the backup process slowed so dramatically?
Best regards, Valdis

First guess: replace the USB drive.

My problem was not constant. And finally, I found out where the problem was...
I had RB750Gr3 and the Dude Server was located at external USB flash drive.
With some scripting checks realized internal flash drive is bad.
The problem was bad flash drive on the RB750Gr3. (Brand new bought and only after half a year this happened)
The DUDE Server was moved to other RB model, now The DUDE Servers files are located at internal flash drive (as new RB model has bigger size flash, external USB is not needed anymore) - and everything runs as should!

And the RB750Gr3 will go for warranty replacement...

Hope this will help someone...
Best regards, Valdis
