creating new variables for email notifications?

Thu Jan 28, 2010 7:43 pm

hi!

just wondering about a feature that I miss:
Can I create custom notifications? Is it possible at all?

What I want to achieve is:
Read a string from the router using snmp and then include this in an email notification when the device goes down.

I have a working probe that does poll the information I want and I have a working notification but I seem not to be able to get the two together...

I can just use the "notes" column but I would have to do it manually and when I auto-discover it is gone.

thanks for any hint

However, I am not geared up to scripting the dude.. not yet.
I will see how much I can learn here... do you give lessons? ;)

thanks!!!

Well I mostly just come on the forums to help users get things working. If I see something someone is working on and I have time I will help them build it. I find that some stuff people are trying to get working is beneficial to me so I try to help build probes or give insight to how to solve issues.

I highly recommend reading the probe thread, that will help out a lot. If you need help with a probe just put more detail about what you are trying to do and what ever extra information you can here and someone will help... Then post the finished probe to the probe thread so others may benefit.
