manually adding devices

Wed Apr 21, 2010 4:09 pm

If I manually add a device how do I set it to show the connection lines without discovering since I auto discover only on the first time of map creation?

You manually add a "link" then change the properties of it, select SNMP and pick the interface you are interested in monitoring.

Cheers, but if I do that and know for a fact that a server (teamed NIC's) is connected to a switch how can I be sure which port I'm monitoring is connected to that server?

Both the NIC's on the Server and Switch are SNMP enabled

Thanks

After you add the link between devices you can pick the port, if you are using Cisco just use the port-channel as the link between devices... If you are not using Cisco I don't know...

Yes I can pick the port but how do I know that this device is physically connected to that port?

Can I not snmp walk the switch and it tell me what device it is connected to?
