the dude ping problem

Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:34 pm

Hi to all,
when I add a new device and active ping service I receive a "local problem".
If I click with mouse right button on device -> tools -> ping, the ping fails if in the field "From" is selected server while the ping is ok if the field "From" contains "local".

Why ?

It sounds like to me that there is a problem with communication for ICMP packets from your Dude server to the device. Do you have any firewalls inbetween your Dude server and the device? Is the device on another network to your Dude server?

But I have the server dude on the same machine where the manual ping with command line run correctly...

Oh, that is strange then.. I have tested the same setup and I get responses from local and server running the Dude client on the Dude server. Have you checked your local nic configurations on the Dude server? What OS are you running the Dude server on?

I'm using Windows 7 x64...
In which way I can check nic configuration through the dude server?

First try to run The Dude Server as Windows Administrator. This is discussed many times in this forum.
