The Dude on RB750G

Fri Mar 23, 2012 5:28 am

I tried to use The Dude on my RB750G. But CPU went through the roof 70-100%
Is the RB750 not powerful enough to be used as a router and network monitor?

It depends on how many devices and services you will monitor. I guess you could use it for a small amount, say 10 devices.
Also, from experience I can tall you that the disc/ssd or whatever the mikrotik devices have is not suitable for many writes. Too much devices and dude starts to act up because it cannot write.

Any IO to the internal storage will cause CPU spikes up to 100% easy.

So thats a NO really.

10 device limit is practically unusable.

hi
you must see what service used most cpu.for khow this you must use from tools/profiler.
Profiler tool shows CPU usage for each process running in RouterOS. It helps to identify which process is using most of the CPU resources.
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Tools/Profiler
you can unistall unused package from router.
