Dude bandwith use for data-sensitive devices?

Sat Sep 01, 2012 1:49 pm

Hello,

I have some RB411 units with 3G modems that I would love to monitor using the Dude - but these devices are on VERY low (5MB/month) m2m plans. I only really want to probe two or three ports, and every few minutes is OK.

Are there any tips or tricks for minimising bandwidth/data usage on the Dude?
And can anyone give any idea of how much tx/rx data is consumed when monitoring the device as a RouterOS object, vs. just a simple port probe?

Many thanks,
Jeremy
