LTE USB stick UPNP config from MT (e.g. for VPN)

Sun Mar 11, 2018 4:02 pm

Hi All,

Apologies if this topic was already covered, I have spent quite some time searching.

This is a very generic question but for clarity I am using hEX RB750Gr3 (ROS 6.41.2) with an LTE USB stick Huawei 3372h-153 (inserted in the USB port of the hEX).
I am able to add the LTE interface, route it to LAN, it also supports pass-through (it works as well) but that's not very relevant for the question.

Huawei 3372 does NOT support bridge-mode (only routing-mode with NAT) but it does have UPnP.
Since there seem to be no firewall on the LTE service (a public IP from the operator) I have successfully tested port forwarding on the stick (e.g. external ports 500, 1700, 4500).

The problem with UPnP port forwarding settings on the stick is that they are ephemeral, i.e. they are discarded each time the stick restarts.
So now I can ask my question:

Is it possible for MT to init the stick after each boot, using UPnP commands?
Or, perhaps, would it possible for the MT to send pre-recorded SOAP commands to the stick at boot? (UPnP works using SOAP that can be captured and replayed).

Many thanks for any hints.
Best,
Michal
