CCR2116 L3HW offloading and loopback interfaces?

Fri May 05, 2023 1:46 am

Hi guys,
I hope you're doing well. I have been using CCR2116 with L3HW offloading according to this guide https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... plebridges and it works fine, but now I need to add a loopback interface to the router, but noticed a message in this guide:
Creating multiple bridges
The devices support only one hardware bridge. If there are multiple bridges created, only one gets hardware offloading. While for L2 that means software forwarding for other bridges, in the case of L3HW, multiple bridges may lead to undefined behavior.
So, if I use L3HW I understand I can only have one bridge, but how can I add loopback interfaces in this case?

Thanks,

I have additional bridges for loopback purposes on multiple CCR2116's and CRS300's and it doesn't seem to affect L3HW offload. This is probably because they don't have any physical interfaces associated with them, so there's nothing there to confuse the offload process.
