New to Mikrotik RouterOS env.

Wed May 10, 2023 11:32 pm

Hello guys,

First time jumping to Mikrotik product. I bought a CRS317-1G-16S+RM switch for the SFP+ ports.

I have a hard time to setup an uplink (LAG 2x 1gb ) from my gigabit switch (Netgear GS728TPV2) to the CRS317.

Setting up LAG is pretty straight forward with the Netgear switch but with the RouterOS is where I get lost.

My basic requirements are:

Be able to manage the switch on the same network as the other connected device.
Uplink from my netgear switch to the main switch that would be the CRS.
I have no VLANs, very simple setup.

Netgear Port 3 going to CRS SFP15, Netgear port 5 going to CRS SFP16

Here's the photo of my current setup.

First problem I have is in order to access management with Winbox I have to physicaly connect to BOOT/ETH port or connect it to the Netgear switch.

That brings us to the next problem is all traffic now route thru BOOT/ETH port. The bonding interface I have created in Router OS doesn't work. The traffic wont route over it.

As soon as I unplug BOOT/ETH port the routing between these two switches doesnt work.

Any clues where to look? I tried to check documentation for bonding to be with the same bridge as the other ports but I can't find it.

I am new to the networking (L2/L3 stuff), sorry if it seem very beginner question.

Thanks a lot!:)

btw, Netgear side for LAG settings:

Did you solve this issue?
If you did, what was the solution?
