Bridging 2 VLAN's does not seem to work.

Sun May 28, 2023 11:16 am

Hi all,

I have a Mikrotik HAPac3 which i use as my main router, and have a problem bridging the IPTV VLAN.
The setup is as follows:

- Ether1 is the WAN side, regular internet comes in untagged, IPTV is on VLAN 188
- Ether2 goes out to the main switch.
- Ether3 goes straight to the first IPTV box.
- Ether4 and Ether5 have computers directly attached.

Internet works fine for all devices in several different VLAN's.
But i have a problem with a second IPTV box that is behind 2 switches.

I have 2 bridges configured, 1 for regular internet access, and 1 for IPTV.
It's the IPTV part i have trouble with, i suspect i did something wrong with bridging, because that second IPTV box is not working.
There is no routing done on my side, i just need them bridged to VLAN188 of the ISP, they handle the rest.

The IPTV bridge has 3 members.
- Ether1 VLAN188
- Ether3 Untagged
- Ether2 VLAN33

That last one, Ether2 VLAN33 goes through a few switches, and ends up untagged at the IPTV box.

The first IPTV box works, the second does not even get an IP address.
What am i doing wrong?, The first box (on Ether3 untagged seems to work fine)
The switches have been thoroughly checked, all VLAN's and pvid's are set correctly.

Not sure exactly how you have things configured or wired. I don't think you should use two bridges.

Read through this thread that may be helpful VLAN Passthrough from WAN port to LAN bridge (specific port)

If it isn't you will need to post a network diagram and a sanitized export of your config.
