I have a small media server hosted on one subnet locally and i have clients on another subnet locally. Clients on the other subnet have extreme lag and stuttering when trying to stream content from the media server. If the client is on the same subnet as the media server, no problems. This leads me to believe there is some issue at the router responsible for passing traffic between the subnets. The configuration use to work fine, Not sure when it all went south. I have tried upgrading and downgrading software in the router, but no joy. Hoping someone may see something i missed in my config... or has experienced the same issue.
The RB4011 does not appear to be overly hungry for resources, CPU usuually is under 5%. Clients are all connected via Wired Connections with 1G to 10G connections so bandwith should not be a problem. I appreciate any help or insights, its a weird gremlin.
Wireshark packet capture shows alot of TCP Dup, TCP Out-Of-Order and TCP Retransmissions.
Router is RB4011
Media server is on VLAN 100 - IP addr: 10.0.4.10
Client is on VLAN 20 - 192.168.20.100
