Fault light on CRS-317-1G-16S+

Thu Jan 17, 2019 12:29 pm

Hi,

My brand new CRS-317 has the fault light on very often (not all the time). I see no related messages in the Log. How can I find out what the fault light means?

Thanks in advance.

Try to update your device to the latest RouterOS Testing version (6.44beta54).
If after update fault LED still turns on, execute this command: "/system health detect-fans"

I don't believe this is true. My CRS317 has the fault light on but it reports:
[admin@MikroTikCRS317] > /system health print
temperature: 36C
cpu-temperature: 35C
psu1-state: ok
psu2-state: ok
fan1-speed: 6690RPM
fan2-speed: 6810RPM
fan3-speed: 0RPM
[admin@MikroTikCRS317] >
The funny part is of course that the output reports a fan3-speed: to the best of my knowledge the CRs317 has only 2 fans, so where does the report of the fan3 come from?

Oh, and b.t.w: the gui shows only 2 fans, both running

Thanks for all the replies

/system health reports:
temperature: 50C
cpu-temperature: 35C
psu1-state: ok
psu2-state: ok
fan1-speed: 6765RPM
fan2-speed: 6705RPM
fan3-speed: 0RPM

Maybe the 50C is a bit high. Don't know where that comes from, could be a bad temperature sensor.

I am sorry to re-open this thread, but I am unable to get rid of the fault light if the fans are not spinning.

I have 1 CRS317 switch which turns on a fault led when the fans stop spinning.

I am running Version 7.1.1 with the V7.1.1 firmware.
I tried downgrading, and then upgrading again with no luck..

If I get the unit to heat up and start the fans, then the light turns off...

I'm guessing the fault is incorrectly link to 0RPM which is normal for a CRS317?

*note: this only happens on 1 of my 10+ units.

Update a device to the latest RouterOS version, after update run command "/system health detect-fans". If the issue persists, send supout.rif file to support@mikrotik.com

Hi, I have the same problem with my CRS354 on RouterOS 7.9, furthermore the command "/system health detect-fans" is unknown.
Exact shell output:
[admin@crs354] > /system health detect-fans
bad command name detect-fans (line 1 column 16)
