Using HAP AX lite with a fftc router

Thu May 18, 2023 5:10 pm

Good morning, i bought an HAP AX lite, and i would to connect a fttc router to WAN port.
I can't use this router as "bridged" / "modem".
Where can i find the procedure to configure the mikrotik?
I already tried to configure, but without results.
Thank you in advance

Not sure what you mean?
Wired modem device connection to haplite providing a public IP to the haplite

ISP router connection to haplite and you want haplite as wifi/switch?

i have a standard router (provided by the isp) that cannot be used in bridge mode.
it can only be used as a router and it has no many options available, so it must have an ip as the other pc on the lan.
i have red the doc (i'm not an networking expert :( ) and i can't understand how to use the router on the WAN port of the mikrotik, because if i do it, the router "hide" the router to the other PCs.

i would use the mikrotik as AP/switch and firewall between my lan and the ISP router.

do you know where to start reading?

Out of the box (reset if needed to default config), put AX Lite right in between your ISP router and the rest of your network.
Done.

How do your other devices get an IP address from that router ?
Through DHCP, I suppose ?

Default AX Lite will get DHCP on its WAN port (ether1 but be careful the marking on the white case is NOT very clear so easy to get the wrong port. I put on purpose a marker on my device to make it visible. Been there, done that.).
All other devices connecting to AX Lite will then get IP from AX Lite.

they get the ip from the AX, in a different dhcp range from the ISP router (and i tried to shutdown the latter).
i connected via wifi a smartphone, a notebook and a tablet, and a tv and a minipc on the wire; all these devices get a correct ip (i can ping) but they can't see the ISP router.
on the AX the ether1 is marked "internet", so i can't plug the cables in the wrong way.
i tried to reset configuration, but no changes.
furthermore, sometimes after i do the login on the mik, i get a "void" page.

Can you please provide a drawing how your network looks like ?
Isp device, AX Lite, some other devices.

It should look like this:
ISP device <-> AX Lite <-> the rest of your network

Please also provide export of your AX config (terminal: /export file="anynameyouwish")
Put contents of file in between [ ] code quotes (easier for others to read).

i opened another post and i saw that the problem was in a erroneous configuration.
Thank you!
