DIN Mount Gigabit CRS

Fri Dec 06, 2019 7:52 pm

I would really like a DIN mount gigabit CRS with 8 - 24 port options. Anyone else have such a need?

Yes, DIN mounted models would be nice. Not a huge number of ports, maybe 6-10G & 2S. Would fit in smaller cabinets.

Bump. This is really a product segment Mikrotik should consider.

The market today basically consists of either stupid dumb, or overpriced industrial variants with horrible and outdated software OR astonishingly expensive Cisco IE-series stuff.

Something performance-wise like the hEX or new L009. 2 SFP ports and some RJ45s with some PoE, DC terminal block. Sure, add an LTE option as well. This would be an ideal component for many areas like FTTH, CCTV, industrial, facility, smart-city-stuff, etc.

My Knot came with a DIN Rail mount accessory, I guess it would be easy for MT to provide something like that for some switches. But to cable those ports, would be a nightmare. The ports are on the "wrong" surface!

Completely agreed, Mikrotik is really missing out on this segment. Just did a comparison of 22 different vendors with DIN-mounted 'industrial' variants - most of them you are lucky to get more than one or two updates over the life of the device, or have features that are more than half-baked. Don't even need to necessarily release a new variant that has 2 or 4 SFP ports (though it would be nice) - just sell us adapters to natively DIN mount existing devices like the RB5009UPr+S+IN and the CRS309-1G-8S+IN, where the CRS309 can act as the trunk/uplink switch, and the RB5009 can act as the access switch along with providing secondary power to the CRS309 via PoE - although not documented at https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... icfeatures, it seems the RB5009UPr+S+IN supports independent operation of PoE-Out (aka Perpetual PoE/Always-On PoE/Continuous PoE).
