And why do that on RB5009 and not on a machine really suited for the required processing power ? (database stuff can be quite resource intensive)
Or is the test to see how it runs on RB5009 ?
RB5009 is very powerful. It directly compares with Intel Core2 Duo E4500, which means it is more than powerful enough for Docker with a database, a simple program or a flat-file web server, filtering server and such. That adds great flexibility and convenience, because adding an additional dedicated server adds to administrative overhead.
I also have one RB4011 on my desk for testing purposes, but that one is not as much suited for docker containers because of the limited storage which can be easily expanded on RB5009. (One thing on 5009 that I dislike *very* much is the lack of serial port, but we have what we have.)
Well, "powered hub" that is usually something in the "cheap crap Chinese computer add-on" category and it is probably less reliable than your router.
Understood. I also recognize that as a problem. That is why I asked for recommendation. I was looking into buying an industrial USB 3.0 or 3.1 hub, *if* I would be able to source it relatively cheaply.
