looking for better ways to do ipv4 over an ipv6 network (ie, dual stack but single stack routes)

Sun Jul 16, 2023 4:00 am

I'm looking for ways others are doing ipv4 route distribution over ipv6/ospfv3. ie, no ipv4 ptp subnets, all ipv6 and then some transport for ipv4. This is to simplify dynamic routing design with lots of ipv6 routers that need the simplest configuration possible.

I'd love to just do ipv6 nexthops for ipv4 but I can't see any examples of how to get this to actually work, only examples of failure.
I would prefer not to tunnel from pop to core for a couple reason, primarily that I have multiple diverse uplinks and want failover to work on site-assigned IPv4. Also, I'm using a lot of NP16 and they dont have the CPU to handle tunnel encapsulation on any mikrotik tunnel type AND I don't want to add additional customer CPE to handle that.

Thoughts?
