SFP doesn't work after link-down

Wed Jun 28, 2023 7:00 pm

Hi guys.

I have a problem with SFP. I have 2 MTiks and there are inserted SFP S-3553LC20D kit, (2011UiAS v6.47.8, SFP-S-53LC20D) <> (RB2011UiAS-RM v.6.49.8, SFP-S-35LC20D). Optical link works well, but after any link-down, the SFP on RB2011UiAS-RM doesn't work. It remain in state "RX-Lose"

Only way how to bring it back to working state is power-off completely the routerboard (reboot is not enough) or reinsert the SFP with connected optical cable. When I insert the SFP and next connect the optical cable, it doesn't work too.

I need a help, what can be wrong??? SFP module? Routerboard? Optical cable..... ?

Thanks you.

I have the exact same issue between two CRS326-24G-2S+
After a reboot or after a power loss, the only way to bring the link up is to phisically remove the SFP module and insert it again.
I wrote a post viewtopic.php?t=197717 begging for help on this issue but still don't have any answers.
It would be nice to have a feature like USB power reset but for SFP modules. This way I think the reset would work without the phisical intervention.
Let's hope to find a way to address this.

I think that problem is in optical cable (according to RX power). It has some issue (but it's not completely broken) and the attenuation is high. There is RX power about -33dBm at one site and -19dBm at other site. After changing SFP's between this 2 side, RX power at the problematic site is -30dBm and it's enough to working properly even after link down.
