Maximum ports on a bridge (1024)

Thu Nov 30, 2023 2:57 am

For a type of service that our wholesale bitstream provider provides us with VLAN for each FTTH user, we use a bridge to group all the clients and with horizon we generate isolation between them to be able to have a PPPoE server (BRAS) and subnetting for CPE remote management.

The issue is that we have noticed that once we reach 1024 ports (vlan interfaces) added to a bridge, 1024 and subsequent bridge ports no longer have forwarding within the bridge. When the "Port Number" is 1024 or higher it does not work.

Checking I see that it seems like a limitation of the linux kernel: ... dge.84974/

Why doesn't routerOS limit when adding the port? It does not generate any errors. Is there any option to solve it?

We use the last v7 version v7.12.1

I think you really should communicate about this directly with support of Mikrotik (e.g. via email Your issue is a ROS intrinsic, forum users can't help you with it and MT staffers don't necessarily visit all the forum threads, so they will likely miss your post/question.
