Mikrotik Knot lost Wifi Interface, got Io Loopback instead

Wed Apr 03, 2024 2:50 pm

Hello everyone,
I have tryed to get the ppp client working with my new MT knot.

I have tried to follow some other threads here and seem to have accidentally killed my Wifi Interface. At least it is no longer in the interface list, therefore there is a "new" Io Loopback interface.

I tryed som serial interface commands from other threads and also uptdate ROS to 7.14.2, some of this seems to have removed the WFi interface and replaced it wih this Io interface.

maybe i have send the commands to a wrong port or channel?

Did you have any suggestions how i can fix this?

loopback (lo) is not related to wifi interface being lost, we simply added it in later RouterOS versions for all installations.

what did you do before wifi was lost? did you upgrade or install any packages? what do you have now in "/system package print"?

ok, then Io comes with the update.

I added the lte package, because i saw in a relativly new YT video that it should be present on the knot.
And since i had problem to get a connection with my vodafone IOT Sim, i thought it has maybe to do something with this.
I also updated all other packages wich where allready present on the knot.

yes, after you asked about the packages and I looked in the download, I was already expecting this and added it.
Now the wifi interface is back.

which makes me wonder, I'm sure it wasn't there before

yes, package sets can change between versions, so when upgrading, don't do it by hand, use "/system package check-for-updates" menu, it will get the correct packages for you
